More on Kiso

Doctor Cain makes his home in Hawaii, on the big Island. Dr. Cain is a professor at the Chropraktik-campus located in Hamburg Germany. It's the only chiropractic University in Germany. The Kiso Method has been developed over a 30 year period and well over 120,000 treatments in the making. The Kiso Method is for chiropractors and osteopaths or Healing practitioners(HP) in Germany. There is another set of manuals made specifically for non chiropractors...acupuncturists and massage therapists for example. All the concepts in the Kiso Method help explain natural phenomenon that occur in a clinical setting. So the Chiropractor knows what is going on and can explain to the patient what is happening and the tools to make your patient better. Concepts like the Cainzian factor, the secondary and primary soft spot....spill over, just to name a few. Find out more about the Kiso Method through our DVD's and our manuals! We are now located in Hilo Hawaii at 64 Keawe Street, sute 207. Our number is 808-961-6887.

Welcome to the Kiso Method.  How did the Kiso Method come about?  What are it’s unique aspects?  How long does it take to learn the Kiso Method?  How can I learn the Kiso Method?  These questions will be answered, read on.

The Kiso Method came about originally by mistake.  As with many inventions in our world, spontaneous synchronicity happens to bring about a wonderful discovery.  While a chiropractic intern at Palmer College of Chiropractic West back in 1987 in San Jose Ca., I was seeing a patient.  She was in her late twenties and was several months pregnant.  At Palmer College we had been taught a technique using a kneeling bench.  For many, this technique was too abrupt, too hard for many to use.  The idea was to put the patient on their knees with their face and chest on the apparatus.  This kneeing position is perfect for a pregnant patient, that’s why I was trying to use that technique that day.  As the patient is on their knees, I have them drop their stomach down, extending the lower back.  I contact the vertebra to be adjusted with my hands and as the patient relaxes I make a quick, hard thrust downward.  Yes, it sounds a bit scary and it is.  So I had my patient on her knees positioned on the knee chest table, as it’s called, and I had her extend you stomach down.  I told her to relax as I exerted pressure with my hands, getting ready to make a thrust when she quickly got up and said “I don’t want to do this”, she said “ I’m scared and would rather wait”.  Well, she had been in a lot of pain and I was adjusting her sacrum at the base of her spine.  She had been experiencing “sciatica” or pain down her leg for a few days.  When she stood up from the apparatus, she looked startled and said “I don’t have anymore pain!”.  I said to her, “I didn’t do anything yet”.  Two weeks later I saw her on the street and asked her how she was doing, she informed me that since that day in my office, her low back pain and sciatica had vanished after standing up from the knee chest bench.  I was perplexed.  I thought about it and realized something had happened during the process of having her kneeling down on the knee chest bench.  I thought it was a fluke.  About 5 years later, I was in Monterey California and had a patient come in with severe low back pain.  This patient owned his own painting company and had been in the emergency room and bed ridden for days.  He was in his thirties and was a very hard worker.  He didn’t want to take time off of work, but he could barely walk.  I tried to “adjust” his 5th lumbar with the traditional side adjusting maneuver. I couldn’t even set up for the adjustment, he was in too much pain.  It was then I remembered the incident at Palmer College.  I did have an old knee chest table I had inherited from another chiropractor for free (they are fairly rare!) and proceeded to put him on it.  I had him on his knees with his head and chest supported.  I contacted his 5th lumbar and had him relax his stomach, dropping it closer to the ground.  He was able to relax in this position so I took advantage of thisI pushed down and used an oscillation with my contact hand.  I did this for about 30 seconds and had him get upI was more amazed than him!  He was much better.  He stood up and looked at me and said “What did you do?”, I almost said, I’m not sure, but that wouldn’t be professional!  I said “I adjusted your vertebra”.  He said his pain was about 60% better.  I proceeded to use this technique with him about 6 more times and he became completely well.  He subsequently wanted to paint my old house as a trade for my services and I gladly let him.  After that day, I became enthralled with the Kiso Method and eventually added the non force adjusting to all areas of the spine.  A few years after helping the painter, I noticed how the cranio-sacral system could be manipulated to bring about an end to the flight or fight sympathetic over-ride that was effecting so many people and thought the years, I developed more and more aspects of the Kiso Method. The Kiso Method is not just for pain relief or relief of symptoms, it for life!  Allowing your own body’s intelligence to keep your mind and body at it’s utmost level of efficiency.

When a new patient comes into my clinic, I quickly explain how the spine subluxates.  I explain that every chiropractic practitioner in the world manipulates the vertebra from back to front or pushes the vertebra into the direction of the body.  I explain how the vertebrae are all meant to be in what’s known as the primary soft spot.  An anatomically correct position which is all the way forward when looking at the spine from the back.  I tell my new patients how the spine subluxates or moves the vertebra in a backwards position, or into the secondary soft spot, by forward flexion.  Flexion is the root of all evil when it come to vertebral subluxation.  I explain that “I’m moving your vertebra into the primary soft spot, a place that is anatomically correct for your spine“. Putting the vertebra back into this correct position allows the vertebra to function and to move normally.  The swelling quickly subsides along with reducing pain and symptoms. I tell the patient not to stretch or to flex forward at the early part of treatment but that later they can start on a regime of exercise and stretching when they are ready.  I tell my patient that I will introduce the Kiso Ball and the Para-Stim on the second visit but first I want to see how they felt from the first visit.  I also explain that I will increase the distance between their visits as they feel better.

What I’ve noticed over the years at my clinics is that patients love being more in charge of their own health. Understanding the concepts of the Kiso Method and involving them with their healing process is different compared to their experience of going to another chiropractic office.  Also, letting the patient know that I am not just a pain relief Doctor nor am I healing anything, I am, with the Kiso Method, helping their bodies heal themselves, and this is a life long process.  but that the length of time between visits depends on their response to my treatments and this makes them empowered.  We often have more than 10 new patients in one day at our small office in Hilo Hawaii! Once their done with their treatments for their current condition, I recommend they come into my office at least once a month and for many, twice a month. Once they understand the concepts of the Kiso Method, they realize that life is adjusting them.  Our new world with texting, looking at computers for endless hours, slouching in chairs etc. has caused an increasing amount of damage to our spines.  How to combat the damage?  Use extension to heal and regenerate the spine.

Here are some other questions answered concerning the Kiso Method.

  1. How long does it take to learn the Kiso Method?  I recommend you read and understand the manuals first.  Then watch our double DVD set.  Our new training DVD will be out soon also.  Read “Secrets of Healing Back Pain”, written for the patient, oh but you’ll learn something too.  A great deal as a matter of fact.  The Kiso Method is an entire healing method.  It takes the patient from their first day through a process of healing.  They learn as they go, they understand how and why they are being healed.  This in itself is a very different process in the world of chiropractic. For a chiropractor, several weeks with teach them this system, for massage therapists and acupuncturists, it will take a month to several months to understand and use some of the Kiso Method principles.
  2. Do you have to be a chiropractor to learn the Kiso Method?  Yes, to take a seminar and even to buy the Chiropractic manuals, you must be either a chiropractic student of a chiropractic college or University or an osteopath in order to learn the Chiropractic Kiso Method.  If you are a massage therapist or acupuncturist you can learn the Kiso Method for non chiropractors. Learning the Kiso Method takes more practice and more study, but it’s fun and exciting and opens a whole new world for the serious healer.
  3. To become proficient in the Kiso Method, do I have to have a seminar with Dr. Cain.  I believe you do.  I have had many students and chiropractors learn the Kiso Method and tell me they use it every day and feel they understand it completely by studying our manuals and watching our DVDs.
